Count the hand
Aces count as one. Tens and picture cards count as zero; other cards keep their number value. Baccarat uses the last digit of the total, so 17 counts as seven and 20 counts as zero. Nine is the highest possible total.
There is no prize for knowing every term at once. Read the sequence and give yourself permission to stop at the point you have understood.
What the dealer does
Two cards are dealt to each side. A two-card total of eight or nine is a natural and no further card is drawn. Otherwise, the rules determine whether Player and then Banker receive a third card. That procedure is not a decision for the person betting on the hand.
A table can be watched before it is joined, which is often the easiest way to see how the written rules meet the pace of play.
Read this version’s terms
Player, Banker and Tie are common labels, but payout and commission arrangements can vary by version. Read the displayed rules and ask about any charge or side bet before you play. A venue can confirm whether baccarat is currently available.
If you decide to see the game in person, check current entry, access and timetable information with the venue before you travel. Keep those arrangements separate from your gambling budget.
The displayed table information should show how its version settles winning selections and any commission or special rule that applies.
